Dianne E. Caramès is a highly accomplished criminal defense attorney with deep roots in Miami. A former Assistant Public Defender with the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office, Dianne gained extensive trial experience handling a wide range of serious criminal matters. Her exceptional skills led to a recruitment by Sabrina Puglisi, culminating in a partnership and the creation of the esteemed firm Puglisi Caramès. The firm has earned a reputation for successfully navigating complex State and Federal criminal matters, including several high-profile cases. Dianne herself has a proven track record, having tried over 70 jury trials ranging from misdemeanor offenses like DUIs and battery to serious federal charges such as human trafficking, insurance fraud, and drug trafficking, as well as complex murder cases. Dianne also contracts with the Office of the Regional Counsel for the Third Region of Florida and is a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel, where she continues her dedication to public defense.
A Past President of the Miami chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a role she held after being elected the organization's 50th President in May 2023, Dianne continues to actively contribute to the legal community. Dianne is also and a long-standing member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where she continues lobbying not only for the rights of her clients but also for the interests of criminal defense lawyers in Miami-Dade County and all over Florida. Dianne is also the Chair of the Criminal Courts Committee for the Miami-Dade Bar, another prominent voluntary bar association.
Recognized for her professional achievements and community involvement, Dianne has been named a Rising Star SuperLawyer and received the Top 40 Under 40 Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her commitment extends beyond the legal field, as she has also been a member of the Junior Orange Bowl Committee, an organization dedicated to empowering youth in Miami.
A Miami native fluent in Spanish, Dianne earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and her Juris Doctor degree from Florida International University College of Law. In addition to her admission to the Florida Bar, Ms. Caramès is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Nebraska, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth and Eleventh Circuits.
