About me
Jim Skuthan has been an attorney with the Federal Defender’s Office in the Middle District of Florida since 1990. He is currently serving as the First Assistant in that office. He has served on the FACDL Board of Directors since 2016 and currently serves as co-chair, with Jason Kreiss, of the Federal Rules Committee. For the past three years, Jim and Jason have done several FACDL Lunch and Learn presentations, focusing primarily on federal sentencing issues.
Jim is board certified by The Florida Bar in Criminal Trial Law and Criminal Appellate Practice. For the past thirty years, he has lectured at the FACDL Board Certification seminar on the topic of federal sentencing. For the past seven years, he has also lectured on the topic of Federal Criminal Appeals.
He has been President of the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers three times and has served on The Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Committee for the 18th Judicial Circuit and The Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the 9th Judicial Circuit.
