Judge Stephanie Ray has served on the First District Court of Appeal since 2011 and was Chief Judge from 2019-2021. She is an active member of the bench and bar, currently serving on the Executive Councils for the Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section and the Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section, and as a Master member of the First District Appellate American Inns of Court. She has previously chaired the Florida Conference of District Court of Appeal Judges, the Florida Bar Appellate Court Rules Committee, the Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism, and the Florida Bar Student Education and Admissions to the Bar Committee. Judge Ray has taught judicial and legal education courses on subjects including Florida Constitutional Law, Statutory Interpretation, Judicial Precedent, Standards of Review, and Judicial Writing. Immediately prior to joining the court, Judge Ray was Chair of the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission. Judge Ray is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt University and the Florida State University College of Law.
